Here at Alecia's Artisan Soapery, we love animals! We were so excited to learn that Canada is taking a step forward to end the unnecessary experiments on animals for cosmetics.
''Cruelty free cosmetics laws win third reading in Canadian Senate
Some amazing news from Canada where a Bill to end animal testing and phase out the sale in Canada of cosmetics tested elsewhere in the world on animals has made progress in the Canadian Senate and been accepted in committee.
The Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology this week unanimously voted in favour of Bill S-214 - the Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act.
The proposed legislation now moves to debate and a final vote in the Canadian Senate. If it passes this stage, it will proceed to the House of Commons where an MP sponsor must be found.
The Bill has been stewarded by Senator Carolyn Stewart-Olsen, who successfully won an amendment to the bill to include a ban on the sale of animal tested cosmetics which will be phased in over a four year period, in line with the EU’s approach.''
